Step by step
How to use Joydivision Soft-Tampons Mini
- Wash your hands before taking it out of the wrapper.
- Moisten it with a little water-based lubricant or clean water, then squeeze it out well so it can absorb as much as possible.
- Get comfortable on the toilet with one leg raised, for example on a chair. Rest your index finger in the hollow of the tampon and squeeze the sides with your thumb and middle finger so the tab forms.
- Push it all the way in with your index or middle finger, until it touches the cervix. It's in the right place when you can't feel it.
- To take it out, squat or sit on the toilet with your legs apart, bear down a little with your abdomen and pull the tab with your index or middle finger. If you can't find it, pinch with two fingers.
After use
Don't wash or reuse them: each tampon is used once and thrown in the bin. Keep them in their individual wrappers. If the foam changes colour in the light, the manufacturer says you can still use them.
Manufacturer's warnings
- The risk of toxic shock syndrome is the same as with a regular tampon if you don't wear it for more than 8 hours, change it often, insert it with clean hands and don't use it overnight.
- Change it right after sex, and straight away if it was without a condom.
- It is not a contraceptive: it doesn't remove sperm.
- Put in a new one before swimming, and if your bleeding is heavy, don't swim.
- With no string, it can sometimes end up behind the cervix and be harder to take out. If you can't reach it, see your gynaecologist.
