7. The 10 golden rules of anal safety
Done slowly and with the right materials, the risk drops a lot, but it doesn't disappear. In US emergency departments between 2012 and 2021, of 885 adults with a foreign body in the rectum, 55.4% were sex devices and 40.8% needed hospital admission (Loria et al., 2023). That's why these rules are not optional. Read them before you buy.
- ALWAYS a flared base or handle. Any toy without a stop can be sucked up into the rectum and travel further. Removal requires an operating theatre. Non-negotiable.
